Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan. Reiki practitioners believe that our bodies have an innate ability to heal themselves. Many people use Reiki alongside conventional medicine and find it beneficial for all kinds of situations, from chronic pain to depression.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It’s a type of alternative medicine. It's administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen life force energy flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's life force energy is low, we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it's high, we are more capable of Feeling joyful and Staying healthy. 

The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words — Rei which means "soul" or “spirit” and Ki which is often translated as "universal energy."

Reiki practitioners believe that when they place their hands near someone during treatment, they are able to channel universal energy for the purpose of helping heal physical illness or psychological distress.

History

Reiki, a lost healing art, created by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan, was brought to the west through students he taught before his passing. Usui was a Buddhist monk and a trained herbalist, who developed Reiki after years of meditation and fasting. He felt a deep connection to the entire universe.

To balance Universal Life Energy on every level - emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual.

The Five Principles

The Five Principles of Reiki are the foundation of a Reiki practice and are considered to be sacred. They are as follows:

  • Just for today, I will live with gratitude.

  • Just for today, I will not worry.

  • Just for today, I will not anger.

  • Just for today, I will work honestly.

  • Just for today, I will have respect for every living thing.

What Reiki Can Do For You?
